An inflight set is the most constrained kitting job there is
A restaurant kit works as long as it fits the box. An inflight set must first fit the trolley compartment, then the weight budget — every gram carried on an aircraft is fuel. All eight pieces have to sit inside the same volume and weight target, and that target is set before the products are chosen.
Consistency is the quality standard
In inflight catering one set differing from the next is not acceptable. What our automated kitting line contributes here is not speed but repeatability: every set comes out with the same contents in the same arrangement. Non-standard configurations are handled on the manual line.
What this demonstrates
That we can build sets to aviation's constraints on dimension, weight and consistency, and that one production run can meet the service standards of several airlines at once. For catering companies and multi-site operators, that repeatability is the deciding factor.
On inflight and catering work the size and weight target has to be agreed first; product selection follows from it.
