Bamboo or Wood?
The real differences in texture, weight, length and cost — which is right for your business?
Quick comparison
When bamboo?
The natural choice for high-turnover service points. In fast food, self-service, catering and event service, the unit cost difference adds up significantly by month end. Bamboo being a grass that can be harvested more than once a year is also one of the strongest arguments in sustainability communication.
When wood?
It makes a difference where you want the guest to feel weight the moment they pick up the product. Fine dining takeaway, boutique hotel room service, and businesses where the brand experience itself is the product prefer wood. The cost difference per unit is small, but the perception difference is clear.
Is there a difference in printing?
No. Pad printing is used on both materials, with up to 4 colours. The one practical difference: light-coloured prints give slightly less contrast on wood's darker tone than on bamboo. Dark logos come out crisp on both.
The verdict
Bamboo if volume and cost are your priority, wood if guest perception and premium feel are. If you're unsure, request samples of both.
